Give your heart to Ravenswood for Valentine's Day! ❤️

Support our Annual Campaign as we grow to cover 25% more student enrollment

At Ravenswood Classroom Partners, we envision a brighter future where every local student receives the support they need to thrive. Your donation to our annual fundraising drive helps make this vision a reality for students in East Palo Alto and eastern Menlo Park.

We are now looking ahead to our next great challenge. Next year, Ravenswood will welcome up to 350 new students from the closing of The Primary School—a nearly 25% increase in enrollment. To prepare for this monumental growth and ensure our hands-on work can continue and expand, we urgently need more volunteers and financial supporters. This investment in our capacity will guarantee that we can provide the necessary training, resources, and curriculum to reach every student who needs us.

Every child deserves an equal opportunity to learn

Inspired by the belief that every child deserves an equal opportunity to learn, our mission is to provide volunteer tutoring and mentoring to Ravenswood students.
Over 130 Ravenswood Classroom Partners volunteers work with talented teachers to support the success of students in the Ravenswood City School District, serving communities in East Palo Alto and eastern Menlo Park. Tutors work with students from Transitional Kindergarten through 6th grade on literacy, math and social-emotional skills.

RCP supports students facing challenges:
  • 80% are economically disadvantaged
  • 55% are English language learners
  • 91% are reading below grade level
  • 94% are below grade level in math
  • 47% are homeless or housing insecure

Each dedicated volunteer is a consistent and caring presence in the lives of these students. Week after week, they return to the same classroom, building trust and lasting relationships with learners. Partnering closely with Ravenswood teachers, our volunteers pour their hearts into supporting not only academic growth but also the social and emotional well-being of each child. They create a warm, encouraging space where students feel seen, heard, and empowered to thrive.

A Valued Partner to the District

As a District Leader, I am beyond appreciative for the support and partnership of Ravenswood Classroom Partners. As we embarked on adopting a new literacy intervention curriculum this [last] year, RCP was right there beside us the whole way to support implementation.

Through significant change, RCP volunteers have been supportive, responsive, communicative, and impactful on student learning. RCP leaders have been incredibly collaborative, open, and communicative as we have embarked on this new adventure into the world of structured literacy.

After just a few months, we are already seeing improved outcomes on student learning, thanks to the dedication and persistence of RCP volunteers! We can’t wait to see how students to continue to progress this year.

We Provide Three Programs

Angie Holman, Executive Director, and student

Literacy Tutoring

Volunteers work in small groups with students each week on literacy skills using the same structured, phonics-based program teachers use. Students learn letters, sounds and high frequency words which are a foundation for decoding more complex text. This high-dosage tutoring approach is shown to have the biggest impact. We use a modified approach in TK and Kindergarten to best support the youngest students.

Math Tutoring

Volunteers help students establish a strong foundation and confidence in math through individualized tutoring using math curriculum provided by the classroom teacher. Our program is adapted for both the youngest learners and the older students across elementary school to help students develop essential skills that have a lifelong impact.

Middle School Tutoring

Starting in the fall of 2025, RCP established and implemented a comprehensive tutoring and mentoring program specifically designed for middle school students who encounter new academic subjects and a growing need to embrace independent learning. Caring, targeted academic support becomes essential for nurturing their continued success and ensuring no student feels left behind.
